Advances in the video surveillance industry

With the video surveillance industry’s requirements for images moving toward high quality, high frame rate, high dynamics, and low illumination, HD cameras with CCD sensors as carriers are difficult to break through the above technical bottlenecks under the pressure of cost and resolution. The development of CMOS sensor technology has filled this space, and it has become the mainstream image sensor technology for high-definition video images and high imaging speed applications in the security industry.
In the current high-definition surveillance cameras, 1.3 million and 2 million pixels are the main products, and the products with 2 million or less pixels are equally divided into CCD and CMOS in terms of sensors. The products with more than 2 million pixels are mainly CMOS. But overall, the performance of HD cameras in terms of low illumination and wide dynamics still needs to be improved.
