How to classify mobile hard disks

For laptops, when the 2.5-inch USB mobile hard disk is working, the hard disk and data interface are powered by the USB interface. The USB interface provides 0.5A of current, while the laptop’s hard drive has an operating current of 0.7 to 1A. Normal data copying does not cause problems. However, if the hard disk capacity is large or the moving file is large, it is easy to have insufficient power supply, and if the USB interface supplies power to multiple USB devices at the same time, the power supply is insufficient, resulting in data loss or even hard disk damage. To enhance power supply, 2.5-inch USB mobile hard drives typically provide power cords that draw power from the PS 2 or usb interface. The mobile hard disk needs to be connected to the PS 2 power supply line when moving large files. 3.5-inch mobile hard disk generally comes with an external power supply, so there is basically no problem with the power supply. The IEEE1394 interface can provide 1.5A current, so there is no need for external power supply.
Tip: In terms of power supply problems, in general, a USB interface power supply is sufficient. However, there may be cases where it is necessary to connect two interfaces at the same time, so it is best to buy a data cable with two USB interfaces when purchasing, to avoid the shortage of power supply.

Currently, mobile hard drives can be divided into three types according to their size: 3.5-inch desktop hard drives; 2.5-inch notebook hard drives; and 1.8-inch mini hard drives. Among them, the 3.5-inch desktop hard disk has the advantages of high speed and large capacity, but it is bulky, heavy, and inconvenient to carry. Because the hard disk is designed for the desktop, the shock resistance is poor, but there are still prices and capacity. A certain advantage 2.5-inch notebook hard drive is specially designed for notebooks. It is small in size and weight. It has special design in shockproof and has good seismic performance. It is the most widely used in mobile hard disk. The 1.8-inch micro hard disk is also designed for notebooks. It has good seismic performance and the smallest size and weight. However, its price is higher and its capacity is smaller. It is more difficult to popularize and is more suitable for users with special needs.

Capacity is the storage space of the mobile hard disk. In 2006, mainstream hard drive capacity was increased from 160G to larger capacity. At present, the price of 250G and 320G products is quite good. The world’s largest single-disc capacity reaches 750G, and the 320G product market has matured and the price is very reasonable. The 400G or above products are also high-priced series, which are rarely considered by ordinary users. Although 160G and 250G are mainstream capacity, but limited to cost and actual use requirements, for general office and home applications, the choice of 80G or even lower 40G is fully able to meet the needs.
